White amorphous powder. There is formaldehyde odor. A linear polymer of formaldehyde. No fixed melting point, will be broken down when heat it. the Melting point 120 ~ 170 ℃. Soluble in hot water and release formaldehyde, slow soluble in cold water, soluble in caustic soda and alkali carbonate solution, insoluble in alcohol and ether, the high degree of polymer insoluble in water. the reaction the same as formaldehyde reaction,such as chloromethylation, acetal formation with alcohol, etc.
