1. Hydroquinone is mainly used as a photographic developer. Hydroquinone and its alkylates are widely used as polymerization inhibitors in monomer storage and transportation processes, with a commonly used concentration of about 200ppm.
2. Used as an antioxidant for rubber and gasoline.
3. In the field of processing, adding hydroquinone to the hot and cooling water of a closed-loop heating and cooling system can have a corrosion inhibition effect on the metal on the water side. Hydroquinone is used as a deoxidizer for boiler water. It is added to the preheated deoxidized boiler water to remove residual dissolved oxygen.
4. It is used to manufacture anthraquinone dyes, azo dyes, and pharmaceutical raw materials.
5. Used as a corrosion inhibitor, stabilizer, and antioxidant for detergents, and also as a hair dye for cosmetics.
6. Determination of phosphorus, magnesium, niobium, copper, silicon, and arsenic by photometry. Determination of Iridium by Polarography and Volumetric Method. Reductive agents for heteropolyacids, reducing agents for copper and gold
