Since the closure of BASF’s citral plant, the prices of vitamin A and vitamin E products have been greatly affected

On 31st October 2017, a fire broke out at the BASF citral plant, resulting in a shutdown of the plant and the suspension of its VA and VE plants. According to the Feedinfo news release, BASF announced that its citral plant in Germany is expected to resume production in March 2018, but VA and VE will not be able to ship until months after their initial production. In the meantime, there was a shortage of VA and VE in Europe. VA prices increased from 67-80 euros / kg to 170-180 euros / kg. VE prices rose from 4.6-4.9 euros / kg to 17.0-20.5 euros / kg. Domestic VA prices rose to 500-600 yuan / kg, VE prices rose to 55-75 yuan / kg.
